UAE leader pardons Bangladeshis jailed for protesting

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) leader has granted a pardon to a group of Bangladeshis who were imprisoned for participating in protests. This decision comes as a relief to many as three of the 57 defendants had been given life sentences in a country where protests are effectively banned. The UAE's move to pardon these individuals demonstrates a willingness to address the concerns of the international community regarding civil liberties and freedom of expression. Protests are heavily restricted in the UAE, with the government maintaining strict control over public demonstrations.
