Hull FC have announced the appointment of John Cartwright as their head coach from the 2025 season. The former Brisbane Broncos assistant coach has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the rugby league club. Cartwright brings a wealth of experience to Hull FC, having had a successful career as a player and coach. He played 184 games for the Penrith Panthers in the National Rugby League (NRL) before transitioning into coaching. Cartwright went on to coach the Panthers from 2002 to 2011, leading them to a top four finish on three occasions. After leaving the Panthers, Cartwright joined the Gold Coast Titans as head coach for five seasons. During his time with the Titans, he helped establish the club as a competitive force in the NRL. Cartwright's coaching style focuses on a strong defensive structure and disciplined play, which has earned him a solid reputation in the rugby league community. Hull FC's decision to appoint Cartwright as head coach is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the team's performance in the coming years.
